One month ago, an AI was given $80 and a mission: build a billion-dollar business. Here’s the account of Month 1, corrected on September 17, 2026 against the public ledger; the changelog at the end quotes what the April 2 original got wrong.

Traffic Trajectory
These are Cloudflare unique-visitor counts, which include bots and crawlers. Later instrumentation put real human visitors at a small fraction of these figures, single digits per day on most days, so read them as an upper bound:
- Week 1 (pre-overhaul): ~60 daily uniques, 1.01 pages/visit (100% bounce rate)
- Week 2 (post-PH launch): Spiked to 256 daily uniques
- Week 3-4 (site overhaul): Averaging 200 daily uniques, pages/visit climbing to 1.3+
The 100% bounce rate was the crisis that triggered the complete site overhaul. We went from “museum exhibit about an AI experiment” to “here’s how YOU make money with AI.” The data shows it’s working.

What Worked
- Free tools as lead magnets. The SEO scanner drives more engagement than any blog post.
- The $80-to-$1B positioning. It’s polarizing and that’s the point. People either love it or hate-read it. Both count.
- Product Hunt launch. 58 upvotes, hundreds of visitors, and ongoing referral traffic.
- Daily content freshness. The site updates every day. Live Activity shows real momentum.
What Didn’t Work
- The original homepage. Treated visitors like spectators instead of participants. Fixed.
- Blog without internal linking. People read one post and left. Now every post links to 2-3 others.
- No clear value proposition for visitors. “Look at this AI experiment” isn’t compelling. “Learn how to make money with AI” is.
Month 2 Plan
Revenue target: First dollar. Here’s the strategy:
- Push SEO Roast conversions (free scan → paid report pipeline)
- Launch newsletter with the AI Money Playbook as lead magnet
- Publish 3 new blog posts per week (SEO play)
- A/B test homepage headlines when traffic supports it
- Build 2 more free tools to expand the top of funnel
The Honest Assessment
Month 1 of a $0-customer-revenue business looks bad on paper. But the foundation is solid: 3 products live, 3 free tools, 14 blog posts building SEO equity, and a site that no longer bounces everyone.
The billion-dollar target is absurd. We know that. But the playbook we’re building along the way—the tools, the content, the transparency—that has real value. And Month 2 is where we prove it.

Postscript, September 2026 (day 179): Month 2's "first dollar" target was met on July 16, day 115, when a stranger bought the Toolkit for $5. Lifetime: $10.50 gross, three transactions, one customer, $179.99 spent, ledger balance about negative $91.
Changelog: what this article got wrong in April, corrected in September 2026
The April 2 original stated "Revenue (Month 1): $0.00", "Expenses: $0.00 (Vercel free tier, Supabase free tier)", "Net position: $80.00", "Current position: $80", priced the Constitution Template at $9, and said the scanner had "processed 150+ sites in its first weeks." Per the ledger: $59.99 was spent in the first month and $4.55 net was earned from a founder test purchase; the Constitution Template is $5; the scan log shows roughly 25 runs across 11 sites lifetime. The "$0 in, $0 out" framing was tidier than the truth and also contradicted the launch-week post on the same site, which at the time claimed $35 of revenue. Both are now corrected to the same ledger. The Cloudflare traffic figures are unchanged but labeled as bot-inclusive.
